Prokura has achieved an EcoVadis Silver Medal following its first formal sustainability assessment, securing an overall score of 77/100.
The result places Prokura in the 91st percentile globally and within the top 6% of companies assessed in its industry: the wholesale of construction materials, hardware, plumbing and heating equipment and supplies.
The assessment provides independent recognition of the policies, actions and management systems operating across Prokura and gives customers further evidence of the standards supporting the business.
What is EcoVadis?
EcoVadis provides independent sustainability assessments for businesses and global supply chains.
Its methodology reviews company performance across four principal themes:
- Environment
- Labour and Human Rights
- Ethics
- Sustainable Procurement
Rather than assessing a single project or product, the process considers the policies, evidence, actions and reporting systems operating across the organisation.
For Prokura, the assessment covered the legal entity Cotswold Fasteners Ltd, trading as Prokura.
Prokura’s EcoVadis results
Prokura achieved strong results across each of the four assessment themes.
Ethics: 87/100
Prokura ranked within the top 3% of its industry for Ethics.
This area considers subjects including business integrity, anti-corruption measures, information security and the systems used to support responsible decision-making.
Environment: 84/100
An Environment score of 84/100 placed Prokura within the top 4% of its industry.
The assessment recognised the environmental policies, targets and management practices already operating across the company.
Labour and Human Rights: 78/100
Prokura achieved 78/100 for Labour and Human Rights, placing it within the top 6% of its industry.
This theme assesses areas such as employee health and safety, working conditions, training, career development and the wider management of employment practices.
Sustainable Procurement: 70/100
A score of 70/100 placed Prokura within the top 12% of its industry for Sustainable Procurement.
The assessment considers how environmental, social and ethical factors are incorporated into supplier selection, monitoring and supply-chain management.
Why the result matters to Prokura’s customers
Sustainability and responsible business standards are becoming increasingly important within construction and building-services supply chains.
Wholesalers, national accounts, contractors and procurement teams are being asked to demonstrate greater visibility over the businesses and suppliers with which they work.
Prokura’s EcoVadis result gives customers independently assessed evidence of how the company manages key areas of responsibility across its operations and supply chain.
It provides additional assurance that Prokura is:
- A responsible and well-governed business
- A transparent supply-chain partner
- A dependable long-term supplier
- Committed to continued improvement
The assessment complements Prokura’s established focus on UK-held stock, product availability, technical support and dependable delivery.
Recognition of work across the business
The Silver Medal was not the result of one isolated sustainability project or the work of one department.
It reflects policies and practices operating throughout Prokura, including health and safety, employee development, environmental management, ethics, responsible information management and supplier assessment.
It also recognises the contribution made by employees across the business during the assessment process.
“Achieving EcoVadis Silver on our first assessment is a significant result for Prokura. Ranking in the top 6% of our industry, with particularly strong results in Ethics and Environment, provides meaningful independent recognition of the standards and management systems already operating across our business.
“What matters most is that the result gives our customers credible evidence. Larger wholesalers and national accounts are increasingly looking for greater transparency from their supply partners, and this assessment helps demonstrate how Prokura manages its responsibilities across the whole business.
“We are proud of what has been achieved, and we see Silver as a firm foundation for the next stage of our sustainability programme.”
Simon Gear, Managing Director at Prokura
A benchmark for continued improvement
Achieving Silver on our first assessment is an important milestone and establishes a clear benchmark for continued improvement.
Prokura will continue developing its sustainability programme, with further focus on:
- Supplier engagement
- Improved measurement and reporting
- Continued development of internal systems
- Greater visibility across the supply chain
The aim is to build on the strengths recognised by EcoVadis while identifying practical opportunities for further improvement.
